  • Hi everyone !

Welcome to my Australian blog, here's my story so far............

The long journey began early on Monday morning when Sophie Proctor, Liz Thomas and I caught the train from Stockport to London Heathrow. My coach Suzi Riley who’s Australian had already warned us to prepare for the flight, telling us to keep well hydrated and stretch our legs frequently. The first leg was to Singapore which we flew on the new airbus  “double decker”, the air stewards all wearing traditional Singaporean outfits. Very impressive! This was the longest of our flights totalling over 14 hours. I tried to sleep but mainly kept entertained by watching films. Once in Singapore we had a 6-hour lay over, talk about luxurious; the airport had an indoor butterfly garden and a carp pond!!
Our next flight and final leg from Singapore to Melbourne took just under 7 hours and this time I managed a little more sleep. When we arrived in Melbourne shattered and weighed down buy our luggage we were met by Suzi's parents. It was great to see some familiar faces after such a tiring journey! Whilst there we will be staying with them and training at Melbourne park. On our first day of practice we were lucky enough to play on Margaret Court Arena!!
We are now at Rockhampton which is in Northern Australia for our first tournament. I’m playing main draw singles and doubles - I’ll keep you updated on all our progress!!

    Bye for now!!  XX
