Broady beats world No125
Mon 9th Jun 08 - 12:13

Highly promising 18 year old British tennis star Naomi Broady missed out on the main draw of the DFS Classic in Birmingham by just a whisker at the weekend after delivering an impressive showing in the two qualifying rounds.

Cheshire-based Broady, who is the current British U18 girls champion, just missed entering the main draw on June 9th after losing in three sets in qualifying round two.

However, the young starlet can be very proud of her efforts. To get into her 2nd round encounter, Naomi pulled off a big 1st round upset by despatching qualifying top seed Andreja Klepac currently ranked 125 in the world. She then pushed Margit Ruutel of Estonia to a deciding set in round 2.

Despite her disappointment at missing the main draw of the DFS Classic, Broady can now concentrate on Wimbledon qualifying with added confidence. She will now focus on Wimbledon wildcard playoffs at Aorangi Park, starting Tuesday 10th June.
