Naomi pushes British No. 4 all the way
Fri 6th Jun 08 - 14:49
Current British under 18s girls champion Naomi Broady provided a stern test for her fellow Brit Mel South in the opening round of the Surbiton Trophy before eventually losing in three sets.
Naomi, who has just embarked on her senior career after enjoying a stellar junior run, took the first set to three games before Miss South battled back to win the next two.
British no. 4 Mel South will now face Russian Regina Kulikova in the next round, while Naomi can reflect on a hugely encouraging showing.
